When winter suddenly feels a little more like spring, you go out and shoot. Vibing with my most recent “portraits as self-love” kick, I most recently got to photograph this brilliant and talented beauty. Ashton and I met through forensics and it’s been wonderful getting to hang out with her more now that she is graduated. A level-headed lady passionate about fitness, Ashton is one of those people that though younger than me, I definitely “look up” to her. She is one of the kindest, attentive, and generous souls you’ll ever meet.
We started the shoot at her place because I love shooting in the spaces that make a place a “home” even if it’s a temporary place like an apartment. Also it was 50 degrees outside. We share the fact that we are both from warmer states AND have somehow avoided adding many items to our wardrobes that are proper for the winter. So… warm enough to go outside but I’m not trying to be out there for too long. We laughed over a coffee, played with fairy lights, and headed out to a local park that maintains some color year-round.
I really enjoy photographing women and working with Ashton was a blast. She radiated both ferocity and pure joy. It was nice to do something so feminine and easy going. It was a perfect shoot to break up this wintery slow season.
Thank you again, lady! I’m sure we will be getting together again soon ;]
