From the earliest of correspondences, I was extremely excited to book Jasmine and Ty. They wrote me a detailed follow up in such a strong voice that so clearly described their style and personality as a couple. They were the kind of couple you knew you’d wanted to befriend. The kind of couple who must be putting together something really special.
They are laid back music lovers “who call an afternoon together at the house a fun night.” At the point that they got in touch, they had been together 6 years. He proposed in the neighborhood in which they had their first date and she “ugly cried.” She works in PR and he’s a jack of all trades: a freelance graphic designer/web developer/musician/& overall creative (see his work here). They told us about their diverse upbringings and eclectic friends. As if we weren’t sold already, they described their hopes for an intimate wedding in an art gallery in Nashville. We were pretty over the moon with them.
We held out for a warm day for the engagement session. Despite a little bit of wind, it was a perfect day to shoot. Within minutes of meeting them, they were already laughing with me and telling me about their love for Nashville and plans to move to Colorado. I asked them who their ideal dinner guest would be and they both said without hesitation: “Kanye West.” It was hard to keep the camera steady because I was smiling so much.
The session was spent exploring their favorite spots in downtown and learning about each other. Though I had a hint of it, I didn’t quite know yet just how much this couple was to inspire Ganer and I. Their vibe, attitude, and approach to wedding planning really helped push us into committing to our own vision for our day. But more on that, later :] For now, I’m really enjoying reflecting on this session and the memories made.
Cheers to Jasmine and Ty. I hope you’re still glowing :]
