I feel so lucky to have been put in touch with this little family. A mutual friend referred Amanda to me and she let me know that she was eager to capture their family while her youngest daughter was still breastfeeding. I was so excited at the prospect of meeting them and documenting what is a truly fleeting and natural part of being a mother. I also admired their bravery in allowing me to share these so that other families may feel empowered to document this special time for their own families. It was a beautiful act of love that I was honored to help preserve.
More than that however, I was able to document REAL photos of their playfulness and joy as a family. Their eldest daughter, London, is such a character. She told me about her dragons (real and imaginary), showed off her drama and gymnastic moves, and kept this photog on her toes. I try to approach shoots with kiddos like play sessions where we each take turns deciding what we could do. I am able to get so many more candids and genuine moments when I let them steer the ship a little.
I am so grateful that this family trusted me and interacted so naturally. I loved chasing London around, seeing the rosy cheeks on Jocelyn after her feeding, and the authentic expressions of pride and love on Amanda and Matt’s faces. It was so easy to overshoot. These are just a sample of my favorites!
Incredible photos! Just priceless. I will have to check out this photographer and maybe get shots of my 8 grandchildren…
SO sweet!
